Free, family-friendly PadelFest at Smash Padel Whitstable on Saturday 26 September

People of all ages are being invited to pick up a racket and discover what all the fuss is about when Smash Padel Whitstable hosts its free PadelFest this September.

Taking place from 12pm to 4pm on Saturday 26 September, the relaxed, family-friendly event has been designed especially for people who have never played padel before.

Visitors will be able to take to the club’s three covered courts, receive friendly coaching from the Smash Padel team and meet other beginners, with all rackets, balls and equipment provided. The only thing participants need to bring is a pair of trainers and a willingness to have a go.

Often described as the world’s fastest-growing racket sport, padel is easy to learn, sociable and suitable for people of different ages and sporting abilities. Usually played in doubles on an enclosed court, it combines elements of tennis and squash but is generally quicker for beginners to pick up.

The day will also feature Smash Padel’s ‘One Point Live’ Challenge, giving visitors the chance to experience a little friendly competition alongside the introductory sessions.

Craig Meredith, Smash Padel Whitstable Manager, said: “Padel is enormous fun but we know that trying any new sport can feel a little daunting. PadelFest is all about taking that pressure away and giving people the chance to step onto a court, pick up a racket and see why so many people have fallen in love with it.

“You don’t need any experience or equipment and you certainly don’t have to think of yourself as particularly sporty. Our coaches and team will be there throughout the afternoon to help everyone get started.

PadelFest is open to everyone and attendance is free.

Smash Padel Whitstable is based at Whitstable Rugby Football Club, Reeves Way, Chestfield, Whitstable, CT5 3QS. Free parking is available at the rugby club, while the nearest bus stop is The Wheatsheaf, approximately an eight-minute walk away.
