We have officially opened our newest venue in Taunton, with six covered courts now available for the public to book and play.

The launch brings one of the UK’s fastest‑growing sports to the county town, giving local players a new place to stay active and enjoy padel all year round.

The venue sits within Queen’s College Taunton and is designed to be welcoming and easy to access. Players of all ages and abilities can book courts, join coaching sessions and take part in community activities. The aim is to make padel fun, social and available to everyone.

The opening follows months of work between Smash Padel, Queen’s College and local partners. The new courts, all canopied to allow play in any weather, create a fresh destination for social sport and grassroots participation.

Local councillor Cllr Connor Sollé welcomed the launch, saying: “Seeing padel arrive in Taunton is a real win for the town. We’ve needed a space like this for a long time, and it’s great to welcome a sport that brings people together. Smash Padel Taunton will give residents a new place to stay active and enjoy something fresh. I’m delighted to see it open and ready for the community.”

Smash Padel is known for building high‑quality, community‑focused venues across the UK. Its Bicester club was named Lawn Tennis Association Oxfordshire’s Club of the Year, in 2025, highlighting its strong junior pathway and commitment to grassroots sport, an approach now being brought to Taunton.

Rupert Taylor, CEO of Smash Padel, said: “We’re really proud to open Smash Padel Taunton. We want to create places where people feel welcome from the minute they walk in, and this venue does exactly that. These courts give Taunton a new hub for social sport, coaching and community activity. We can’t wait to see players of all ages getting involved.”

Kim Dawkins, Bursar at Queen’s College, added: “This launch is fantastic for Taunton and for our wider community. The new covered courts fill a real gap in local sports facilities and offer something that people can enjoy all year round. The benefit of partnering with Smash Padel is their coach led approach and track record of building communities; we look forward to welcoming visitors to the facilities within Queen’s College.”

Smash Padel Taunton is now live on the Nettla app, with court bookings and activities available straight away. Coaching, social sessions and community programmes will continue to grow over the coming months.
